Vermicomposting Vermicomposting is the process of using Earthworms and associated organisms to break down organic waste and convert it into a rich renewable resource filled with plant nutrients called castings. VERMICOMPOSTING VERSES COMPOSTING The addition of Redworms to a composting system not only increases the nutrient content of the end product, but also speeds up the process dramatically. There is no need to turn a Vermicomposting bed, the worms will do that for you. These are important factors when dealing with large quantities of organic waste. REDWORMS (Eisenia fetida) Redworms are hungry eating machines, one pound ( apox. 1200 to 1600 redworms ) can eat one pound of organic waste every 24 hours. STOP BURNING! Convert those leaves, garden trimming, and yard waste into a wonderful RESOURCE. Adding your kitchen scraps and a little manure will help convert your yard waste even faster. SO
